1. THE LIBERTY SONG - John Dickinson ,1768
2. The New MASSACHUSETTS Liberty Song -
Dr. Joseph Warren,1770
3. FATHER AND I WENT DOWN TO CAMP (Yankee Doodle) -
Edward Bangs, ca. 1776

4. CHESTER -
William Billings, 1778
(alternate text by Philip Doddridge, 1786)
Important Historical Fact:
Song no. 2 is often titled "Free America"
and dated 1774.
But this song was written by Dr. Joseph Warren in 1770
and
is more accurately titled,
"Brave America" since those words are used
in every verse of the song not "Free America."
For example these words in the 3rd verse
from the original broadside sheet:
We led fair FREEDOM hither, when lo the Desert smil’d,
A Paradise of Pleasure, was open’d in the Wild;
Your Harvest bold AMERICANS! No Power shall snatch away,
Assert yourselves, yourselves, yourselves, my brave AMERICA.
You will also receive audio recordings (MP3) of the four patriotic songs,
including what is believed to be the
first version of "Yankee Doodle" during the American Revolution,
written by a Harvard College student.

These patriotic songs were compiled
by American Music Preservationist, Roger Hall,
Director of the Center for American Music Preservation
