The Magnificent Moonglows
They were among the greatest of all r & b ( or doo wop) groups. Originally named The Crazy Sounds, their name was suggested by Alan Freed from his Moondog radio show in Cleveland and they became known as The Moonglows. They consisted of Prentiss Barnes, Bobby Lester, Alexander "Pete" Graves Warren , Harvey Fuqua, and Billy Johnson (guitar)]. Their first big hit of "Sincerely" (recorded in 1954) was covered by The McGuire Sisters, who had a multi-million selling hit record. The Moonglows had other hits too, like"See Saw" and"Please Send Me Someone to Love" from 1956. Their greatest pop hit and one of the great doo wop ballads was: "The Ten Commandments of Love." This 2 CD set includes all those hits plus beautiful ballads from 1956: "Don't Say Goodbye"; "Blue Velvet"; "Love is a River" and "The Beating of My Heart." This is an essential treasury from one of the greatest 50s doo wop groups!
