Concord Jazz CCD-2307-2

Rating: ****

A great collection of vintage songs that is well sung, recortded and serves as very effective underscoring for this film.

For example, the clever song "TV Is The Thing This Year" is used to accompany the beginning of Edward R. Murrow's CBS News program that exposes the witch hunt of Senator Joseph McCarthy's Communist accusations in the early 1950s.

In fact, singer Dianne Reeves appears in the film singing some of the songs as if it were an actual 1950s TV music program. The fact that the film is in black & white only makes it more believable.

This is a CD that provides tasty jazz arrangements by Matt Catingub and smooth song stylings by Dianne Reeves. Even if you haven't seen GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK, the songtrack provides a highly pleasing listen.

I'd recommend seeing the film to see how well the songs are incorporated.

An excellent songtrack for an excellent film.
